A Day in Gibraltar
Written by Geoff Forster
Another stunning days weather. Absolutely perfect.
After feeding and topping up water for Rosie our donkey who presently lives behind the house, we headed to Gibraltar.
We bounced along the tarmac patchwork that is the Gaucín to Manilva road. Through the peage (toll road). Our Unicaja gizmo actually worked and we avoided stopping at the pay booth.
We did however stop at the mirador Higuerón just before La Línea. The sun was reflecting brightly on the sea.

Across the border. We had quite a wait. The RAF are conducting exercises. Lots of practice landings in noisy jets. It clogs up the border but it's essential training.
High on top of the rock the Union Jack flies.
In Main Street it was quiet and pleasant. What a perfect day.

Shopping done we crossed back into Spain. No queue, which was wonderful. Nice to have the luxury of choosing our crossing time. The later bottleneck of workers is a stress and strain which adversely affects thousands of individuals and families. Adding hours to working days and it is really very stressful especially in the baking summer sun. It could so easily be remedied with political will, and a JCB.
Vent over ...
On the A-7 near Sotogrande / Valderama a lorry was in the ditch. It was completely shredded down the right hand side. The cab looked okay, so we hope no one was hurt.
We stayed on the A-7 coastal road. This is a shot taken from the car near Guadiaro. We love the way the road drops and is so near the sea. Surprisingly the A-7 coastal road along the Costa del Sol doesn't provide too many good sea views.
More shopping in San Luis de Sabinillas. Then bouncy bouncy passed Casares, up and through Gaucín, then we smoothly wound along and down to Benarrabá. Where we had a café con leche in Café Bar Guayácan.
Go Google
Seconds after publishing this blog, I realised that I'd missed the accent off Higuerón. Not 100% sure which letter the accent was on I "Googled" it. Google had already indexed and stored this webpage. Astounding speed. They do a great job and give me lots of free applications and stuff which is cool. I'm a Google fan. No raw materials, no factories, no physical products, no distribution. They are the world's richest company and they don't make a damn thing except money.
