A Paddle in Alcaidesa
Written by Geoff Forster
A quick trip to Leyroy Merlins in Los Barrios on a Saturday morning to buy a drill. A terrible foggy dawn on the coast. We had a coffee and tostada near Carrefours, and as the sun rose higher it suddenly broke through the gloom and within minutes the mists were gone and the day was perfect.
Shopping completed we decided to have a paddle at Alcaidesa.
Only a few kilometres from Gibraltar, Alcaidesa is a new resort/urbanistation. The long gently curving beach was deserted. In fact, except for one lone golfer and a woman we walked passed, Alcaidesa was a ghost-resort. Amazing at 11am on a lovely Saturday morning. Are all the houses holiday lets?
Cormorants.

Alcaidesa
Stonechat.

Bird of Prey on the tenth tee.

The windswept trees remind me of twisted hawthorns on the North Yorkshire moors.
All except the one on the left which reminds me of an ostrich.
