A busy month, the last of our Winter break.
The countryside is beautiful The Almond trees are blossoming and they look stunning agaist the blue sky.
The oranges are ripening too. This is a favourite photograph. Taken in the campo near where we walk our donkeys, Rosie and Domingo.
Jane took this beautiful photograph of our donkey Domingo grazing on a ridge looking our across the Genal Valley. The smoke is from small fires started by clearing undergrowth, pruning trees and burning leaves. If you click on this photogaph it will take you to an enlargement on our www.1costadelsol.com gallery.
We went to Algatocín early in the month in search of Miguel, who we buy hay from.
No sign of him in the bars so we had a walk around.
This is Bar Alameda. The chap with grey hair lives in Benarrabá. His family are running the bar.
Algatocín is a pretty village. Lots of houses have flowers on their balconies. This one has them all over the roof terrace.
This pretty doorway and stair has great views out over the Genal Valley. At the moment an Almond tree is in blossom and it looked fantastic.
We went in search of the Panadería (Bakers) run by Antonio and Nieves. They were in a small plaza but have now moved and can be found on the Jubrique/Genalguacil road just passed the Ferretería. Well worth seeking out as their bread and cakes are the best in the area.
This pretty patch of flowers was photographed just outside their door.
We telephoned Miguel and had a delivery of some excellent meadow hay. It is full of dried wild flowers. So much better than straw. The donkeys love it.
We had a visit mid February from Jane's sister Carol.
It had been two years since we'd seen her as she's moved house in the UK and she's been very busy.
It was lovely for Jane and Carol to spend time together. They went out nearly every day. They spent a lot of time talking, shopping and eating cakes ...
Jane and Carol.
We took Carol back to Málaga airport and our holiday has come to an end. We've had almost four months of rest and relaxation with family and friends. Our batteries are now recharged and we've broken the routine which we'd slowly slipped into that was spoiling our lives in Andalucía.
We're both now looking forward to our future in beautiful Benarrabá.
Our immediate future is that I'm going to rewrite this website, and Jane is looking for work in Gibraltar.
Good times ahead.
The apartment is now available to rent.
Andalucía is still the most amazing place in the world.
Benarrabá is still the best village in Andalucía!!
Come to stay with us and experience it for yourselves.
