June 23rd - June 30th 2008

A scorching week. Temperatures in Cordoba hit 45°C /113°F. Fortunately we're protected up in the mountains from the more extreme conditions suffered by those on the plains, a little further to the north of us.
Jane had a great time in the UK and returned safely on Saturday evening. Bringing slightly cooler weather with her.
Bob had a good 80th birthday although the shock of seeing Jane nearly stopped him on 79yrs and 364 days. I did warn her. Bob went white for about half an hour but after he recovered he was so pleased to see Jane it made his week.
I've been working hard.
I'm putting a link here for the Gibraltar website !!!! It's actually up & running :-)
Althoug it's really in a testing phase (Only you know about it!!)
Gibraltar Website
Anyone interested in visiting the site or possibly contributing in some way read on. Anyone else skip this Geeky blurb.
It's a 3 column magazine stlye publishing system. With a Header & Footer.
The Header, Footer (Yellow) and LHColumn Fixed menus (Red) appear on all pages throughout the website.
The white centre column is where articles are published. The most recent article in full at the top. Below this are excerpts from the last 5 articles, with links to read them in full.
The pink area in the right hand column is were all the time was spent.
Each Section has a different RHC layout.
It's designed using little 'forms' for each Section subject.
Which means I can easily change each page to have relevent links in the RHC.
For example 'Sports Bars' appear in sections related to Pubs, Cafés & Bars and also on all of the many Sports pages.
Sports Equipment shops appear in the Shopping section and all the Sports pages ...
It means that if its hard to 'Pigeon Hole' a subject, I can have it in as many areas as I want, just by adding one or two lines of code calling the 'Form'.
This means any advertisers get full value from their ad as it could be linked to from many different areas.
At present I've been adding content to the News and Sports sections to test the layout.
I'll add to other sections during July. Launching officially at the beginning of August.
If you find any links or errors please let me know. Use the comment form on each page. I'll correct the errors and delete the comment. (I know about the Footer links)
If you would like to contribute by writing on any subject area please let me know.
Publishing is easy using a built in text editor.
You get a username and password access to the admin side.
Okay Geek stuff over.
The dogs, cats & donkeys are well.
Domingo played up one day last week making me chase him down a lane in 40°C sunshine after I'd already been out in the sun with them for over an hour.
Jane took quite a few pics of New Forest Ponies and monkeys in 'Monkey World'. She works in Gibraltar and on holiday pays to see monkeys ...?
I'm planning on doing a Gibraltar blog on the days that I'm down there ... when I get business cards and shirts adverising the site organised.
I'll blog here when I'm in Bennarrabá ands put links to any Gibraltar blogs I do.
Sorry to regular readers, but I needed to get on with the site.
Any volunteers for the Stoke City section? Sponsors needed too ;-)
Gibraltar Website - Stoke City section
Jane got back late Saturday night it's good to have her home.
Spain won Euro 2008 which went down well here!!! They deserved it.
Hi Jane and Geoff
Just had to leave a message saying website looking absolutely brilliant. Also checked out Gibralter site. Excellant job Geoff.
Hope you are both well now. Emailed Jane recently, expect will hear from you soon, now you are feeling better.
Well done on web sites again.
Ok tell me what I have to do.
Hi Geoff
we have just returned home to a wet and windy Kent after 10 very hot days in Competa…… It was a treat to see Spain win whilst we were there. They were still celebrating when we left! Are you going to the Ronda Bullfight this year?
regards
Andy
Hi Andrew and Angela,
Pleased you had a good time in Competa.
Spain deserved their win everyone here’s still talking about it.
Now Nadal’s won Wimbledon too!!!
We won’t be going to the Ronda bullfight. The pageantry and celebrations are fantastic, but we couldn’t watch the wearing down process and the kill.
Hope to see you again at some future time …
Best Wishes
Geoff & Jane
