Up well before dawn as we're off to Gibraltar to check out the traffic situation and parking early in the morning.
Which means that Jane got the job that she was interviewed for a week or so ago.
She's signing the contract this morning. Congratulations!!! Jane.
It's what she wants as life in a quiet mountain village for four years does mean you don't have the stimulation and comradery you can find from work.
Traffic wasn't too bad and the parking situation looked good.
We drove across the border and parked in Morrisons' car park. We went in the store for coffee before we walked to Main Street. Jane signed her contract, whilst I drank yet more coffee.
Jane needed to shop. So I walked to the Alameda Botanical Gardens.
Here are a few photographs I took. The sun was just rising over the rock, so the lighting was interesting.

I met up with Jane and we went shopping in Morrisons.
We drove across the border and did more shopping in Carrefour's La Linea branch. We drove along the coast road, stopping at the garden centre in San Enrique to buy compost. At one point near Guadiaro the road sweeps down to toward the Mediterranean it's a spectacular view. The sea and sky really are that colour. The Costa del Sol at it's best.
We drove to San Luis de Sabinillas and did yet more shopping in Lidls.
On the way up the Rio Manilva road we saw a nylon animal feed bag in the road. As we drove passed we saw a cat's head sticking out. Jane pulled over and I cut the bag open. A pretty young adult cat shot out and ran down the river bank. Someone had dumped it from a car. They'd cut a slit for it's head but it couldn't get it's body out. We're pleased that it got it's freedom. It could easily have got run over. We're not sure why anyone would do this ... why put it in a bag and dump it? Take it to an animal shelter. There are a number of well publicised animal charity groups in the area.
Our instinctive reaction was to get it out of the bag as quickly as possible, because of traffic. I wish that we'd left it in the bag and taken it with us. Then we could have taken it to a rescue centre. Hope it survives. Look out for a pretty tabby near the Moscatel Restaurante!
Back in Benarrabá, we unloaded the shopping, then picked up two bales of hay, before driving to feed the donkeys. We were both very tired, a long day.
We watched 'The Deaths of Ian Stone' an unusual film about a man who keeps dying each day. Only to wake again in a different life the next day .. like a horrific 'Groundhog Day'. The plot was intriguing, decent special effects. Not a bad film.
Congratulations Jane – hope you really enjoy your new job. xx
