A lovely day again. It's a May Day holiday in Spain. However Gibraltar follows the UK in taking the Monday off. So Jane's off down there to work.
I have a quiet day in the village. It was quiet I hardly saw anyone. They must have all been out for drives or in the bars. It is Genalguacil feria so I guess a few will have crossed the valley and spent the day partying there.
John, Chris, Richard and Julie left this morning for the UK, Chris called to say goodbye.
We'll see John and Chris again in July. They've had good weather during their week.
An e-mail from Caroline in Algodonales. Caroline says that from today until Sunday afternoon the pueblo of Algodonales is converted into a town of 1810 and is a wonderful place to visit. Lots of arts and crafts stalls, local food and drink, dance and dramatic re-creations of battles where the townspeople hold out against the French army. Fantastic costumes, sound and light and all free!
Caroline will be at our school stall 'Venta Madrigueras' near the church as you come in to the town- selling food, drink, local eggs and honey so do pop in for a drink!
Caroline kindly sent us three photos from today's events.

There is also a promotional YouTube video which is very well done.
With Jane working and guests arriving shortly I don't think we'll get there. It sounds like fun, so if you're looking for an interesting day out this weekend, Algodonales looks like the place to go.
Hi to you both,
we were in Algodonales to see the action, but must have either arrived to late or left too early!! overyone looked great, and it was nice and busy, but it would have been great if there was a programe of when certain things were taking place…… maybe there was, but we werent aware af any info.. i wonder if Caroline who you mentioned would be able to help on this?
We were hoping to visit Benarraba on our stay but did’nt get chance,
the countryside looks beautiful! some time soon we will get to explore more as we get the house in Olvera to our liking…
Great to xach up on the blog.. please keep it coming!
There were leaflets produced by the town hall with a programme of each day’s events set out. We had plenty available on our stall. This was also in the regional newspaper Diario de Cadiz. Good luck with your house search and hope to see you next year-if you email us I can arrange for you to get a leaflet in advance next year.
Caroline
thanks Caroline, i know what to do for next year!
