November 2007
Written by Geoff Forster
November sees us taking a break from renting the apartment and blogging every day.
It's a glorious month sunshine nearly every day. It only rained for two days toward the end of the month and by then it was much needed.
We walked to the donkeys every day.
We were joined by friends for a fortnight and had trips to Ronda and Gibraltar.
Thanks to them for a birthday treat in the Restaurante Kabílas. The big 50 next year.
.
This years Sweet Chestnut harvest was excellent. The rains came at the right time and the nuts were large and tasty.
There were free public chestnut roasting evenings in most Genal villages including Benarrabá also the bars were giving them away.
We've both got quite good sun tans just from walking in the campo.
We went to the Alcornocales Cork Oak forest, a favourite place. We walked and relaxed in this special, tranquil woodland.
We collected quite a lot of 'Parasol' mushrooms from The campo. The dry start to November meant mushroom numbers were well down. We got to be quite expert at spotting them. Eating a pan full most days.
.
We saw an otter running alongside the Rio Genal just downstream from the road bridge below Gaucín. We got a good view of the otter for over a minute.
