RIP Ferdy Boy
Written by Geoff Forster
Sad news.
Two days ago poor Ferdy's back legs gave up.
We gave him time to recover but it was clear he was no longer able to stand or walk.
We took him to the vet in Sabinillas and he died Friday October 30th 2009 aged 16.
It was Ferdy (Ferdinand after then NUFC striker Les Ferdinand) who's footballing skills brought Jane and I together in Hawley Square Margate.
Where Ferdy played daily in front of many fans (mainly kids in pushchairs).
He was an amazing header, dribbler and could trap a ball kicked high in the air from 40 yards away every time.
Ferdy was born on a farm in St Nicholas-at-Wade, Thanet, East Kent.
He fathered three sons and a daughter.
Jake (we have) Aiden and Guinness live(d) in Thanet, Kent. The daughter we don't know her name did live in Ramsgate too.
We had three dogs but it was really Ferdy and the other two.
He wasn't a pretty Border Collie - short-haired and a bit mutty looking (Welsh Collie?).
His breath smelled real bad too.
He didn't have many teeth left either.
He was my dog for seven years before I met Jane.
He kept me sane and fit.
I doubt if I'll ever have a special bond like I had with Ferdy with another dog.
Miss you boy. xxx
I'll add photographs as I find them and upload them to Flickr.

Hi Geoff & Jane. Just noticed you were blogging again and read the sad news about your dog. I know how you feel as pets really become part of a family. reading your blogs over the years, I know that you had provided a fantastic environment for your pets, so it’s always worth remembering the great fun that you’ve had with them over the years. Was out in Genalguacil earlier this year arranging for the sale of our small house ( not sold yet !! ) but due to a ongoing knee problem, we really need somewhere on a flat terrain, so we are now looking to sell. Very best wishes to you both and great to see you are once again keeping us folks informed of the goings on in the Benerraba area. Cheers.
Geoff and Jane, Our thoughts are with you at this horrible time for you both. Losing such a good friend leaves a big hole as we know, having lost our lovely old girl Peppie in August this year.
It will hurt for a while but we found that looking back over the years gone by and remembering and smiling at all the good times you had together helped enormously.
Best wishes from us both.
@Colm thanks for the kind words. Sorry about your knee.
Will e-mail.
@Alan & Anne thanks so much and you are so right. Sorry about Peppie.
Hi to you both
sorry about Ferdy its very sad to lose a faithful friend.
Glad to see blog running again.
