Sunday 26th October 2008 - Donkey walk

Sunday 26th October 2008
09:00 - The clocks have gone back, roll on March ...
We have a lie in and sleep through the sunrise for a change.
10:00 - I work on our Gibraltar website for a couple of hours, while Jane phones her family.
12:00 - We begin preparing to move Rosie and her foal Chico to the campo.
We moved her to a neighbour's land, just behind our house, so that we could keep a close eye on her during the final weeks of gestation and the birth. It's not a large area and now the foal is bigger and more sure-footed we can move them back into the countryside.
We need to take feed bins, water and straw etc.
I change into my walking gear and we set off around 13:00.
13:00 - It's the first long walk for Chico and he does well.
It's my first walk for quite a while too.

This is Dolly the sheep. She seemed pleased to see us.
There's lots more space here around 50,000 m2. It's also very steep which should help build up Chico's muscles.

Jane found a pine cone with two mushrooms growing out of it.
She also found this one about 25cm in diameter.
Not sure if it's edible. It had white/salmon pink gills. Other than that it looked like a field mushroom
We gave the donkeys and sheep some seed, then sorted out their water and hay.
We drove home for Sunday lunch which we'd left cooking in the oven before we set off. Benarrabá pork ... organic and it tastes fantastic.
19:00 - We fed Domingo who we have to keep separately as he's a stallion donkey and won't like Chico too much.
20:00 - We finished off Bruce Willis, which around a 1,000 bad guys in the four 'Die Hard' films have failed to do.
22:00 - We started to watch 'Linewatch' starring Cuba Gooding Jnr.
Hi
Glad to see the blog is back and that all is well with you and the animals.
Hi there, my two very dear friends, John And Chris gave me your website address to have a look. Its really interesting especially the donkeys, but Dolly looks like she needs sheering ?? The views are fantastic ! We are flying to Malaga on 15th November and staying at Costa Club, I won this holiday in a free draw. We may look at property ourselves to see what prices are like. I would love to move to Southern Spain and enjoy the sunshine. I am not sure how my horse and dog would like the heat though, they would have to stay in the air condioning. John and Chris have been dear frineds of ours for many years, but since they moved away from the are we haven’t seen them, but we do keep in touch.
I will continue to browse your web site for info, thank you.
