Thursday 6th November 2008 - Vets - Estepona - Sabinillas
08:00 - We're off to the coast today. 'Tash' one of our female cats is being neutered. She's Charlie's sister. One of the litter of motherless kittens featured a year or so ago. We've ended up looking after them all (and a few more).
We must say a big thanks to Alma and Jorian who run 'PAD' in Gaucín and vet Dr. Thomas Hinz in Sabinillas Tel: 952 892 992 (near the Natura Garden Centre up the road by Lidl's to the Roman Baths.) If you can ever help 'Pad' Gaucín which is a dog and cat welfare charity, please do.
10:00 - We dropped of Tash with vet Thomas Hinz, and then drove to Estepona for a few hours.
It was a beautiful day. Blue skies and very warm in the sun, pleasant in the shade.
Gibraltar from Estepona.

Estepona promenade.

The strong sunlight was hitting the water in this fountain.

Quite difficult to photograph without over-exposing. Like in the one above :-)
Sorry a few of the 'portrait' ratio photos are smaller than usual. I exported them in Picassa and didn't realise it would resize the height. I'll stick to Adobe Fireworks from now on.

A lovely house.

The little plaza is beautiful.

Another fountain.

We went to the Casa Cultural, where we quickly looked at an African charity photo exhibition.
Then we walked around the older (original) part of Estepona.
There's been a massive expansion of apartments and urbanisations around Estepona but parts of the original pueblo still survive, a few steeets back from the sea front.
On the way we spotted this 'sitting room' outside a shop.
This dog is obviously well cared for.

A beautiful street.

This is the tower of the Iglesia de San Francisco.

The main door of the church. Unfortunately it was locked.

Difficult to get them in the same shot. I need a wider angle lens.

A small plaza.

I thought this was San Francisco but the plaque didn't mention him.

Another church tower. We didn't make it to this one, Jane wanted to look in a few shops.

Estepona is very beautiful. There are lots of well designed and maintained public areas.

Old men chatting in the shade under the trees.

The other church again.

Jane went in a few shops but except for a lottery ticket was very restrained. (Good lass)

Back along the front ... sun, sea, sand, palm trees and Gibraltar

12:30 - We headed back to Sabinillas. A little early to pick up Tash so we went down to the beach.

13:00 - We did some shopping. Before we picked up a groggy but otherwise healthy cat. The scar is less than an inch long. Keyhole surgery! Fantastic Vet.
We drove slowly up to Benarrabá trying not to bounce the cat around too much.
14:00 - We have to leave Tash in her box for a few hours until the anaesthetic wears off.
We sit on the sun terrace for an hour before driving to see Rosie and Chico.
17:00 - Down to the carnicería to buy some pork.
20:00 - We watch twenty minutes of a film 'Stepbrothers', an absolutely terrible comedy, the parents of two still at home, spoiled 39 & 40 year old men get married. Meaning the idiots have to deal with each other. Absolutely pathetic stuff.
We watch part of 'Blazing Balls' another silly comedy about Ping Pong and Chinese gangs. Better than 'Stepbrothers' but only just.
Tash is well and slept on a hot water bottle on our bed.
