Wedding in Gibraltar
Written by Geoff Forster
Our good friends Colin & Julie are staying with us and are arranging a small registry office wedding in Gibraltar.
Jane is the chauffeur and maid of honour. I'm photographer and best man. Should be fun.
So much paperwork can be done via the internet, phone & fax. You do have to go down in person at least 48 hours before the ceremony (Governor's Special License). The cost is around £150 in total.
It was October 1st and early.
A mad dash to iron shirts and find cuff links for the first time in years.
We set off for Gibraltar in the dark with Venus shining down like a good wedding day omen.
The weather forecast had improved from showers to sunny intervals. It was overcast when we arrived in La Linea.
Jane parked and we headed for "The Clipper" for breakfast. Lots of fussing about not spilling beans down our shirts only added pressure and made this more likely. Still spotless we walked to pick up Julie's bouquet before heading to the Registry office in Secretary's Lane. The no entry sign was a warning for anyone having last-minute second thoughts. No wavering with our couple though.
The Registry office is pleasant but basic. The ceremony was conducted in an equally pleasant manner.
Here are some shots taken during and just after the ceremony.
Julie the bride is in pink. Jane in brown and our friend Boyka in black.

Here are some taken just outside the Registry office.

There is a small garden behind the Registry office but there is a better one thirty meters down the lane.

Now text everyone that you've tied the knot.
Relief I think.

A few drinks in Gibraltar then home to the mountains.
We went for a lovely meal in Benarrabá. We've often been to the Restaurante Kábilas but the food has improved so much. Every course was perfect. A great end to a fantastic day.

Jobs a good'un ... thank your mother for the rabbit.
