Estación de Jimera de Libar: We'd visited Jimera de Libar the previous day and today had set off along the same road with the intention of visiting Benaoján and Montejaque. We'd just past Jimera de libar when we saw a signpost for the road down to Estación de Jimera de Libar. A quick decision and we were heading down to check the place out. We parked the Jimera side of the tracks. There looked to be a lot of building work going on and what looked to be a terraced urbanisation was being constructed.
We walked across the tracks into the station.
At the back of the station was a long tree lined road and beyond the trees the River Guadiaro.The river looked clean but we have been advised not to swim in it as sewage from Ronda is pumped into the river upstream. This is apparently improving but when or if the river will ever be clean enough for bathing ...
Walking upstream we found a group of men playing dominoes in the shade of a tree and this family of ducks on the river Heading back downstream we passed this recently built urbanisation. The houses looked very small.

Lovely location though. At the other end of the road were some more traditional Spanish houses and a lovely variety of riverside trees with the Sierra de Libar behind. Back to the station and the obligatory 'up the track' shot. Here's the pretty little railway station. Nicely planted flowerbeds and well looked after. Spotless not a scrap of litter anywhere and that includes the tracks. Although the population of the pueblo was quite small it still had its own church. All other facilities are in the nearby Jimera de Libar. Estación de Jimera de Libar was a pleasant surprise and the riverside walk was a lovely way to spend a summer morning.
We will certainly come back when we have more time and walk further upstream. A delightful railway pueblo too easy to pass by, but well worth visiting.
