Villamartin

Villamartin: We drove to Ronda along the A369 road.
Took the A367 Seville road and then a little further on headed along the Jerez road.
This is the countryside a few km East of Villamartin. Quite flat open farmland.
As you can see it was a beautiful day in early February.

We turned off and drove into Villamartin looking for a parking spot.
There is a traffic light system in the lower part of town.
Also traffic wardens were walking around the streets. This is unusual in Andalucía but the Cadiz province seems to enforce parking restrictions.
We parked in the pretty Calle Salineras. 
Lots of the streets were lined with Orange trees. 
We walked to the Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco in Calle San Francisco. We were drawn to the building by a pair of White Storks nesting near the bell tower.

The church/convent was built in the 16th century on the site of the Ermita de la Santa Veracruz. It is now a cultural centre. 
We were photographing outside when a gentlemen called us over and invited us inside to view the cloister area. 
Great views of the White Storks. 
There was a balcony quadrangle above the cloister. The corridors were displaying some poster art displays. 
We left the centre and walked up the street towards the plaza.
This house was very grand. There were some beautiful houses in this area. 
The plaza was very beautiful. A fountain in the centre. The Ayuntamiento was at one side. 
The area was a busy meeting place.

I'm not sure how the sky in Andalucía is so blue.

We walked down more Orange tree lined streets.
This one had been grafted and had both Oranges and Lemons. 
We walked down this street. There were a mixture of houses some reformed and modernised others were single storey with pot tiled roofs. 
We got back to the car, and drove out of Villamartin.
I took this parting shot of Villamartin as we sped down the road towards Bornos and Arcos de la Frontera. 
The town is very beautiful. The surrounding farmlands must generate a lot of income for some families in the area. Lots of grandiose houses in excellent condition. The plaza was beautiful.
Villamartin is well worth visiting.
