Ardarles

Ardarles: We left Benarrabá one beautiful morning in late June.
We were going to visit the spectacular gorge at El Chorro.
We drove down the A369 to Ronda then took the A367 to Ardales.
Just metres before the pueblo of Ardales we took the MA444 to El Chorro. On the way back we decided to take a look around Ardales as we were so close to what looked like a lovely Andalucian white pueblo.
We drove up into the town looking for a parking place. We were nearly at the top of the pueblo before we found one.
We decided to find the church and headed down a side street.
A boy was playing with a beautiful Spaniel.
Ardales is very white and well kept. All the houses looked in excellent condition.
This photo is strange it looks like Jane is in the 'Land of the Giants'.
We were heading down but we knew the church was at the top of the pueblo, we needed to do a left turn but couldn't find one.
Finally we did take a left then after a steep climb we got to the Iglesia.
The view back down the steep street.
The Iglesia is very beautiful with some very grand steps and doorway.
The street above the Iglesia has some very large townhouses this recently modernised house was very striking.
There was a ruined castle on the rocky outcrop at the top of the pueblo. We didn't make it up there, Jane was overheating after the long steep climb up to the church so we went back to the car for some water.
You can see it on this view of the pueblo taken from the road below.
On the left there was a lot of construction going on. A new urbanisation of modern terraces.
We liked Ardales. It is a pretty pueblo, well kept and clean. Ardales is near the Guadalhorce lakes/reservoirs and El Chorro so the area is popular with holidaymaker's and sightseers.
