Granada Alhambra Alcazaba
Written by Geoff Forster
Alcazaba: Stretching between the the Wine gate and the Alcazaba is the Plaza de los Aljibes ('Cisterns').
We crossed this plaza and headed into the Alcazaba. Originally this was a deep gulley, underneath is a massive cistern with impressive vaulting.
The Alcazaba is a small fortified town.
It is roughly triangular in shape with a number of towers.
This is the Barrio Castrense. The foundations of what was a small town.
The tower to the right is at the western apex of the triangle. It is known as the watch tower.
It is quite a climb but well worth it for its spectacular views over Granada.

The Cathedral.
The Mosque.
Finally two shots back across the Barrio Castrene to the Homage tower.
Next the climb down and through the narrow ramparts garden.
We walked back passed the Charles V Palace, Calle Real, Secano Walk back across the Cuestro del Rey Chico and turned left into The Generalife.
